Yesterday, February 19th 2026, Foodland Wiarton hosted Bruce Peninsula Hospice, Home & Community Support Services of Grey-Bruce, and Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce in our second Compassionate Dementia Inclusive Community event called Food for Thought. We offered the local community a sensory-loss experience designed to help participants feel, for a moment, what living with dementia can be like. It was an invitation to step into someone else’s world and return with a deeper, more human understanding. Creating a truly compassionate dementia-inclusive community means more than sharing facts. It’s breaking down myths, opening hearts through listening to storytelling, and giving people a chance to experience empathy firsthand. When we feel what others feel, compassion becomes action.

Thank you for helping to shape a kinder community where we recognize that our lives overlap and our experiences matter — together.
